for the past 7 months or so i've been completely focused on bass. to the point that i haven't even picked up a guitar since the summer. that's okay though, bass is rad and i'm consistently playing. all the knowledge i've learned is applicable and i've learned a lot more in terms of how the instrument works within a song and how to construct better bass lines. it's been a blast.

but then i picked up a guitar the other day. it became painfully obvious that the two are very different instruments and have little to do with each other in terms of how they're played. when i picked up my guitar i fumbled around. my fingers falling all over themselves. i could barely bend a note in pitch and my vibrato was utter trash. the fretboard seemed unfamiliar and the pick was awkward to use. how completely soul-crushing that experience was... well, still is. i know what i had will come back with some time but it's going to take a bit to get there. it's just horrifically depressing in the meantime.
